Gertrud Walz was the daughter of Casimir Walz and Regina Haas. She married Anton Unterreiner September 20, 1830 in Renchen, Baden, Germany. She sailed with Anton and their family (their five children plus 3 children from Anton's previous marriage)from LeHavre, France on the ship "Austerlitz" and arrived in New Orleans on November 22, 1839. Gertrud and Anton had 10 children; Stephen, Gottfried, Paul, Elizabeth, Regina (all born in Germany), Blasius, Joseph Henry, William, Anton, and Victoria (all born in Apple Creek, Perry County, Missouri).
Gertrud was the granddaughter of Georg Walz and Anna Maria Huschle and Matthias Haas and Christina Geiser. Her middle name may have been Catherine, since she is called by this name in some records. In Renchen, Germany, Gertrud and Anton were parishioners of Holy Cross Catholic Church and their first 5 children were baptized there.

Schneider and Joseph Snurbush. Her son, Joseph Unterreiner was the executor.
On November 10, 1870, after Gertrud's death, her will was recorded on pages 38, 39, and 40 of Volume 17, Perry County Land Records.
